For better infrastructure in the 46th Ward, show up and participate

On October 10, Alderman James Cappleman will announce participatory budgeting in the 46th Ward. Participatory budgeting is a community-based process where community members decide how to spend $1.3 million in Aldermanic menu funds. Residents gather at neighborhood assemblies, develop project ideas, and then vote on the ideas. You would probably like to see infrastructure that promotes walking, bicycling and transit as keys to a healthy, safe neighborhood. More info here.

Excellent. 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore first did this in 2009-2010.

I have friends in Rogers Park who have liked the switch to participatory budgeting in the 49th ward.  I'd like to see it in a lot more wards, and I'm encouraged that several are doing pilot projects in the next year.
