A Park Ridge man was killed when his bicycle was struck by a car in Park Ridge’s Uptown area Thursday night, Park Ridge police said.

According to preliminary information, Timothy Hackett, 30, of the 1700 block of South Courtland Avenue, was riding north on Prospect Avenue through the six corners intersection shortly before 11:30 p.m. when he was struck by a Dodge Charger that was headed eastbound on Touhy Avenue, police said.

Hackett was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

According to police, the driver of the Charger, who was identified as a 54-year-old man from Chicago, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No tickets had been issued and no arrest was made immediately following the crash, according to information from police.

The crash is under investigation by the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, a multi-jurisdictional investigation agency.
