Yeah. A 15-minute temporary parking zone. Lots of Starbucks have them, so you can run in and out and not get a ticket.

Had a guy who was in the standing zone outside of Starbucks this AM (N. Shore and Sheridan) step into the street, see me coming, and instead of throwing his door open in front of me to get in (like I expected), he put his back to his car to make the gap between himself and the southbound cars on Sheridan as small as possible. He got a big fat "Thanks buddy". A great commute in all-around today.

Yes--and helmet decorations. 97% of my interactions with other folks in the public way are positive. Maybe I have mellowed a bit too. I do a lot of smiling and waving and howdy-doing.

Nice.

I've got pretty messed up hearing from years of racing motorcycles (wind noise) being in the military (M-60 gunner) and working in construction all my life. So when someone yells something out a car at me it's going to sound pretty much like RAWWWWWWWWARRARRRARRRARRRRK! to me regardless of what they are saying. I wouldn't have a clue if they were saying something nice or mean. I usually assume it is simple jackassery.

Protect your ears folks because there is no going back from hearing damage as it never gets better and every little hit is cumulative.

A thumbs up conveys a lot more positive emotion than hollering something incomprehensible out a car's window like some uncouth barbarian.

Nice. The best I've gotten so far was the woman in a mini cooper trying to drive in the bike lane stopping with her dumb look and letting me go by.

Isn't that the best feeling ever? A few years back I had something similar happen. While riding through a rough area I could feel the presence of being followed/paced and was bracing for what was about to happen next. Imagine my surprise when the window rolled down and a guy hooked to an oxygen tank held up two fingers followed by three. I yelled WHAT? He responded with "twenty three miles and hour"!
