They just notified members that they will close at the end of September. :(

I have been riding in all summer, and while traffic picked up some it is no where close to what it was pre-pandemic. At most 10% of the lockers appear to be in use, and there used to be a waiting list to get a locker.

It's hard to accept that there may no longer be enough of a bike to work culture to support services such as this.

I'm taking the Lakefront Path from the North most days. While I appreciate the bike lane on Randolph, the insane tangle of cars at Michigan/Randolph makes it hardly worth it.

I am curious if anyone takes the Riverwalk on a bike from the Lakefront Path to get around traffic? My destination is LaSalle/Madison, so I thought of heading on the Riverwalk to Dearborn or LaSalle and then going due south.

Does anyone do this? Is it possible?

Before my crash, I always commuted solo, but if I take it up again (not quite yet), I would be interested in connecting with other commuters - safety in numbers and all that. I happen to live in Evanston, so would be most interested in groups on the north side, but perhaps this thread can be used to enumerate all the known Chicago area bike commuting groups.

Lake Street bike lane resurfacingtag:thechainlink.org,2016-10-25:2211490:Topic:10242812016-10-25T14:17:58.396ZLeah Barryhttps://thechainlink.org/profile/LeahBarry

Today on my ride out, Lake's bike lane (going west) from about Kilpatrick to just past Laramie was totally ripped up for resurfacing, and it looks like they are preparing to take out the eastbound side today. Maybe this thread can be a place to chat about alternate east-west routes to get in and out of Oak Park until the lane is repaved, anyone have some good ones?

The little box in the lower left-hand corner is the northern edge of a parking spot. I don't know if the Geek Squad car planned to turn right, but he could. There are no separate bike traffic lights at this intersection, nor any "Look out for bikes" warnings for pedestrians. During the construction, I've had a few close calls. I can't imagine things are going to get better when the BRT lane is open. I'm a little worried how this is going to work itself out, and I'm normally a pretty confident urban bike rider.
Worst Divvy Locationstag:thechainlink.org,2015-05-21:2211490:Topic:9140292015-05-21T19:04:40.586ZMadopal (16.5 mi)https://thechainlink.org/profile/madopal

I know this will definitely be in flux, and I am very happy they're expanding, but some of the locations make no case.

Case in point: Irving & Keeler. I'm trying to figure out how you'd actually get to/from it without riding horribly inhospitable roads. And the closest station is at Irving/Elston, so are they recommending riding Irving?

Maybe some of these stations will finally expose the horrible state of many of our roads where cycling is concerned?

So I haven't ridden in over a week due to a high ankle sprain when going for a run last Monday. The swelling has gone down and I can hobble about without much pain and I don't have to wear my walking boot anymore (technically). I was told by the physical therapist to get a level 3, lace up ankle brace since the walking boot caused more pain with it on than off.

I need the joint to heal stronger because of a line of work change that is coming and being in shape is a must, so I am by no means looking to skimp on my therapy process. Plus riding is my way of commuting and getting a 2 1/2 year old, and 9 month old up each morning and loaded into the car so my wife can drive me ends up being a bad deal for her for most of the day. Loads of grumpy pants for her to deal with.

I will obviously wait to get cleared to ride again (was originally told 2-3 weeks probably) but has anyone found an ankle brace that works well to support the joint and allow flexibility to ride?

Side note: If you've never had a sprain like this, your ankle turns fantastic shades of purple, green, yellow, and black! And it includes your whole foot and shin!
Commuting with kids - what bike?tag:thechainlink.org,2014-09-29:2211490:Topic:8620032014-09-29T14:47:43.308ZKellyhttps://thechainlink.org/profile/Kelly41

I'm currently riding a Raleigh One Way with a Yepp Mini (with my almost 2 year old son). This isn't really the best set up as the bike dimensions aren't great with the seat, but it works and it's the bike I was commuting on before my son was born.

We have another one on the way. I know I have awhile before the second will be ready to bike commute, but at this point I'm looking to invest in another bike so I am able to commute with 2 kids.

I'm leaning towards a Yuba Mondo because I can use the Yepp Mini when the 2nd is little and then fit both kids on back in the future.

I'm also looking at the Madsen. Anything else I should be looking at? Any thoughts on either of these bikes?

I do have a trailer that I use with my road bike (usually outside of the city), but I'm not interested in using the trailer to commute.
