So this was exciting! Riding home from work tonight I was surprised to see a vehicle delivery truck parked in the southbound Elston bike lane adjacent to the McGrath Lexus/Acura centers where previous issues have occurred and been discussed in the forum here.

When the driver saw me stopped behind his truck (myself in the bike lane, with my bike) he became immediately confrontational and charged at me with a long crowbar in hand, raised above his head, clearly indicating his intent to attack me with it. I made a prompt departure and have reached out to McGrath, including photos and license plate info. I’ll keep you guys informed if I hear from them.

Feel free to chime in if you have any thoughts, and be safe out there, folks!
Can cars use a bike lane to parallel park?tag:thechainlink.org,2017-03-09:2211490:Topic:10450652017-03-09T20:10:11.797ZStephen P.https://thechainlink.org/profile/StephenPrassas

I have tried to find the answer to this question on the internet and even asked a cop but have not found an answer. For a street with the typical bike lanes, when a car is parallel parking, can they pull into the bike lane to make the maneuver or do they have to stay in the vehicular lane and only cross the bike lane when parking. Is the law specific on this?

Recent transplant from Chicago here. This is pretty scary stuff. Its difficult with floating parking spots, but do your best to avoid that door zone, or to go slowly if you have can't.

Toronto has recently piloted just this type of bike lane system on a major thoroughfare that I ride daily.

I always thought that when taking a left turn from a left turn lane that you should take the turn from the right side of the left turn lane (if not taking the whole lane), but riding with my wife last week, I noticed that she turns from the left side of the left turn lane. I told her that she was turning from the wrong side, but she told me, with a good deal of confidence, that it's actually me who is turning from the wrong side. Her confidence has shaken my own confidence because she does regular training rides with other cyclists and I generally ride alone. To me, it seems stupid to turn from the left side of the left turn lane because you'll have to cross the cars turning left to get back to the right side of the road, but, then again, I have seen some pretty pro looking cyclists taking lefts from the left side of the left turn lane.
Who's right? I tried googling this but most sites don't say either way (plus I did a cursory search of this forum). I did, however, find this image that seems to support my belief. The question is driving me crazy. Bus Rapid Transit in Chicagotag:thechainlink.org,2011-08-17:2211490:Topic:4172972011-08-17T16:33:28.183ZMichael J Blanehttps://thechainlink.org/profile/MichaelJBlane

An interesting article about Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) being studied in Chicago; benefits, requirements (streets being considered must have (or create) a bike lane).
