DATE CHANGE - Chicago Region Pre-Ragbrai Get Together - Saturday, June 25th

 

UPDATE: Gay Pride Parade is that day so getting in and out of the city is going to be a mess.  We are moving it to Saturday, June 25th from 2-5 PM, at my house in Ravenswood. Plenty of street and bike parking.

 

 

We thought it would be nice to meet other fellow Ragbrai riders in the area before the big ride.  We've narrowed it down Sunday, June 26th.  Possibly a ride and bbq.  Any interest?  I'm going to invite other teams and post it on the Ragbrai forum as well.

I can offer my back yard at 1113 W Webster Ave - complete with Elvis Presley statue and gorgeous bike rack.  I have one large barbecue kettle and also a tiny one.

I'd like to attend if it is later in the day. I'm riding the MS150 in DeKalb earlier that day and will need time to get back into the city.

It will be later in the day. 1 pm at montrose beach hanging out, 5 pm bbq at my house. I'm near lawrence and hermitage. Email me for my exact address. I will update details here and link to calendar event.

That sounds fabulous! I have plans that evening, but I should be able to stop by earlier in the day. This is my second RAGBRAI, but I don't know a ton of other folks who are doing the ride this year, so would love to meet up - thanks for organizing!

Hey Julie. Sorry for not replying sooner. I'm in the city (Canaryville). I just don't like having to venture north because of the issues with traffic and parking. And yes, I'd have to drive because the wife does not feel comfortable riding her bike on streets. I have a couple of other friends who are also doing ragbrai this year. I'll see if they are also interested in showing up.

 

How do these meetups usually work? Should we bring food? Donate money?

The 26th is actually the Chicago Gay Pride Parade so we are going to move it to Saturday the 25th from 2-5 or so at my house, kinda like an open house.  We can grill, hang out and talk about RAGBRAI.  I will update calendar event here, on RAGBRAI forum and make a facebook event as well. 

 

anyone who has gone or is going on RAGBRAI is invited!
