The D is one of my favorite places to ride. //edit to remove restating the article's thesis - should have read it first//.

Here's a ride I did over the holiday weekend, including a nice route north to the "hip" suburbs of Ferndale and Royal Oak:

Regarding Cheers/scrip: if you think that businesses owned by people crazy enough to launch a local currency are worth visiting, you are correct. Jerry Belanger is kind of my hero -
Hell yes we do. Your idea though: you ought to start it. Let me know and I'll be your first member.

Thanks natesos, for the map. Nice to hear more Detroit love. I think you just planned my Saturday afternoon ride before checking out the Tigers for me. You're so right about the huge empty boulevards. I am going to try to do my whole trip only eating at places that accept script money. The novelty of it might be fun. I wonder if we have enough interest on Chainlink for a Detroit Bike City group???????????????

The D is one of my favorite places to ride. Its legacy as an auto capital means HUGE boulevards; its economic identity of the last five decades means they're mostly abandoned.
