Construction of protected bicycle lanes along a stretch of Clybourn Avenue in Chicago will begin Monday, the Illinois Department of Transportation said Sunday.
The project will create a raised concrete median between bikes and motorized vehicles along Clybourn between North Avenue and Division Street, as well as on Division between Clybourn and Orleans Street, IDOT said.
The project will be completed in early August, IDOT said, but until then daily, intermittent lane closures will be required.

Obviously, this is great news for cyclists.
Completely out of curiosity, though, I wonder--is this summer a "bad" time for this construction project, given the Elston/Damen/Fullerton construction and the bridge closure on Cortland? I have some memory that Clybourn is an alternative route for cars, and I wonder if lane closures, etc. on Clybourn might cause serious gridlock.
Regardless, can't wait to see the new lanes. I saw the curb-protected bike lane in Douglas Park the other weekend and it was really cool.
Another street ruined.
