They can't even afford elevators for the CTA...

Thanks Obama!

I have a real love hate relationship with that facility. As I've said before, it's an oasis in a bike desert. No, worse than a desert. It's actively hostile against bicyclists. You can't pedal through Millennium Park and getting there requires the navigation skills of Ferdinand Magellan. But a few billion dollars for road upgrades? Hey, no problem.

What makes it "actively hostile?"  I only used it a few times but I felt no hostility.

Before realizing that it that it wasn't allowed, I attempted to ride my bike through Millennium park one day on my way to the Cycle center. The guard made it quite clear that riding was not allowed there. And try getting to that center from the east. Or try crossing the outer drive at Monroe to get there. Or try getting there from the north. I've run out of directions.

I've never found riding my bike to that center to be either easy or fun. It's a hassle. Now we have a project underway to improve bike access to and around Navy Pier. A long overdue project. They can't find enough money to connect the LFP  to the cycle center but they do have 60 million to build the Maggie Daley park. I can't wait to use the ice skating ribbon next July.

Now I don't advocate the Critical Mass tactics but this does piss me off more than a little.

This link is interesting. Hmmm,  the link is not underlined. Anyone else experiencing this problem?
