Description

Start the New Year on the right foot with the Chicago Cycling Club's annual New Year's Day ride. Neither snow, sleet, ice nor hangovers will prevent an intrepid group of cyclists from riding on the first day of the year 2015. Embark on a 10-12 mile cycling odyssey  that includes the obligatory breakfast/brunch stop at a restaurant in a great Chicago neighborhood.

Again this year, the ride will start in West Town at the Eckhart Park field house (which will not be open). We will return to this area for those who want to end there. There is ample free parking on Chicago or Noble or Elizabeth for those who drive.  The Chicago & Milwaukee Blue Line stop is just a few blocks away, the 56 Milwaukee bus stops at Chicago, and the 66 Chicago bus stops at Noble. So easy to get to!

Snuggle up in your winter riding gear and come on out. Please bring locks, money for lunch and your helmet.

If you want to just meet us for lunch, we will arrive at the Red Apple on Milwaukee in Logan Square, 3121 N. Milwaukee between 11:00 and 11:30 and will be in the back room.

Please RSVP at the Chicago Cycling Club Ride listing

Thanks for a great reason to get up & get out on New Year's Day! Fun ride, good people, great food & conversation! I think we're off to a great start in 2015!

Tony!  It was 20 degrees when we started!  And the wind was only blowing about 15 or 16 mph!  Will look forward to seeing you on another ride.

I'm soft! I loaded up my bike, freezing, got in the car, saw it was 15 degrees, and went back inside.
Another day. Sorry I missed it!

If that is what you need to do to keep back with me, sounds great! :-)

We could bring BMX bikes if you want a slow pace. ;-)

You had practice with your layers today.  Tomorrow will feel like a heat wave and you won't need as many.

Looks like a great day for a bike ride!  Clear and cold to start and warming up to freezing as the day goes on.  Of course, this is Chicago and the forecast will almost certainly change, but come on out anyway.
