WTB - 700c wheelset for city riding; FS - Velo Orange hammered fenders.

First, the WTB:

I'm looking for a 700c wheelset for an old Trek 750 I'm building up. I got it without a front wheel (I was using a dynohub wheel I had) and the rear wheel on it is a huge boat anchor that made the bike unfun to ride. I'm looking for:

700c

prefer 23mm rim width rather than 19mm, for ease of mounting wider tires

QR axles

130mm rear spacing

Nothing fancy needed, just something solid and not too heavy.

Let me know if any of you have something. I've written someone here who has a set that would work well, but haven't heard back.

Second, the FS:

I have a set of Velo Orange 35mm hammered metal fenders. New and uninstalled, with all hardware. There is a sharpie mark on the front fender to mark where I would have had to clearance it, but otherwise totally unmolested. I got these for my go-less-slow bike when it still had 700c wheels and skinny tires, but tight clearances meant they wouldn't fit. Now the bike has 650b wheels and fenders fit easily. I don't do skinny tires any more, so have no use for them. Asking $50 - like new, but you can save yourself shipping and a bit of cash. No photo on hand, but you can see here: http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/accessories/fenders/fender-s...

thanks,
David

I have a wheelset (NIB) that I think is just what you are looking for.  I meant to check the rim width last night but forgot to do so.  I can't recall the rim manufacturer, but know that they were solid Shimano hubs, and otherwise met all the requirements you listed.  Let me know if you are still looking for a wheelset, and I will get all the details later tonight.

Joe

Hi Joe,

Yes, I am still looking - let me know what you've got once you have the time to check.

David:

I pulled the wheelsets.  The new set I remembered has 130 mm rear spacing, but the rim is only 19 mm wide.  These are Weinmann DPX rims with Shimano hubs.  They've never been mounted.

I have another set with the wider rim that you are seeking (23 mm), but the rear spacing is 135 mm.  These are Mavic A317 rims with Shimano XT hubs.  (The rims are identified as "Disc" rims, and the hubs will accept a Centerline disc brake, but I ran them with V-Brakes.  They serve as my backup set for the rare times I run studded tires in the winter.  I'm willing to part with them.

I then have a third set that is set for 135mm rear spacing and is 19 mm wide.  (Original wheelset on my Trek FX hybrid, with Bontrager rims.)  Very little wear, but not the measurements you were looking for.  I'd love to find a home for these.

Let me know if you are interested in any of these, and we can work something out.

Joe

Joe,

Thanks - I'll write you back this evening after I've checked the frame. Narrower rims might be OK...

David

Joe,

I'm so sorry to have been AWOL for a while. I think either set will work (I may have my LBS spread the frame once I strip it). PM me and we can work something out.

David

Hi David,

If you havent found what you're looking for I have a set Ive been thinking of selling.
Front is bronze Velocity B43, 32 hole, laced with a modified crows foot pattern to a Black Phil Wood hub.
Rear is a bronze V B43, 48 hole, 4 Cross to a black Phil hub.
