Hello Everyone, Throughout the year we have offered our Wheelbuilding and Generator Lighting Class that was a big hit with the participants. They rode away with the knowledge of building a wheel and with their new generator lights lighting their way. 

Fall is upon us and it's time to go back to school - we are looking for suggestions for transportation related bike classes - how you can get your bike in perfect shape for the upcoming season. 

- We will continue to offer the Wheelbuilding and Generator Lighting Class. We thing this is the perfect way to get a sturdy wheel and convent and constant lighting.

- Along the same lines, We are considering a Internal Geared hub / hub based brakes (roller or drum) wheel building class for those of you wanting a durable gearing system and/or weather resistant brakes

- If you have any other suggestions - let us know!

Fork-building classes.

Probably not in the cards, but hey, can't hurt to ask...

A fork building class wouldn't be off the table. I have been considering doing more fabrication/framebuilding classes and would entertain any ideas.

I've always built all my own forks, and building a lugged crown fork with plug-in fork ends is fairly straightforward. The class would need to include Silver Brazing and blade bending, depending on the style you are looking for.

Would a lugged/crown raked fork be easier or harder than a lugged diamond frame for a beginner? It's smaller and has fewer parts, and fewer brazes. But it seems tolerances might be tighter.

I think an IGH/Drum build class would be awesome. I plan on attending a dyno class as well.

A fork would be the easier of the two - the tolerances are basically the same, but there is not as much customization to the tubes/lugs on a fork. That being said - I couldn't offer a lugged frame class, as I have never built a whole frame with lugs.

Good to know - 

I don't know why I haven't considered it, but using a Drum brake in the generator hub in the class would be simple. Sturmey has 2 versions of their drum brake+generator hub that I have used on many bikes.
