But perhaps the biggest toll a long commute can take is on the human body.

Studies link longer commute times with a greater risk of diabetes, heart disease, depression, stroke and other ailments.

I, for one, am glad I get to commute to work on my bike.

From personal experience, I find this study completely believable.  A long driving commute gives you no exercise, yet leaves you feeling terribly fatigued.  A bike commute, OTOH, gives you exercise and leaves you energized.
