holy crap. what a tremendous waste of money.
"The House of Solid Gold’s CEO, Mr. Power, announced recently his elation about working closely with The Way to Happiness Foundation International, a global non-profit, non-religious charitable organization whose sole mission is to reverse the moral decay of society by restoring trust and honesty the world over through the publication and widespread distribution of "The Way to Happiness" booklet, a common sense guide to better living. The majority, 90% or more, of the proceeds from the sale of this golden bicycle will go directly to this global organization."
So if you buy this bike, you're essentially giving these loonies $900,000+ to distribute a recruiting pamphlet for scientology.

Ohhhhh....just first impressions expressed. Can't imagine who in the hell would bother buying a Surly with gold plate as it would be a COLOSSAL magnet for thieves. Unless they've got the money to run out and buy 10 more.

I have too much common sense to be that frivolous if I could afford it, but I can't so their frivolous cause will have to do without my common sense.

Wow, carbon fiber looks like a downright practical bike material compared to 24k gold! :-)
I wonder how much it weighs.
...each part was coated to perfection in the USA using the electroplating process.
The bike is not solid gold. The value of the gold is negligible if its been electroplated with a few millionths of an inch.
For my daily commute, it might be okay. But for more serious rides I want something a little more upscale.
