saw this... busted tire!

yup, there's a ton of bikes like that around downtown Evanston.  Always wonder its vandalism or from the plowing...

Wow, rode my personal bike for the first time in what feels like months. Took me a few blocks to reacquaint myself with the overall responsiveness compared to Divvy. Beautiful day to be out, sunshine and no wind.

100 geese and a friendly dog near Montrose Harbor in a minute. Click here.

I did more riding today than I have for a good 6 weeks. Between monster tires and horrific pavement everywhere, I feel like I've been off-roading for several hours.

I could be deluding myself, but it seems like drivers by and large have figured out that there's nowhere for bikes to go to get out of their way on most streets.

So good to be in from the cold and not have anywhere I have to be.....

I cannot wait to be on my personal bike once all of the winter grime (i.e., salt) is washed away.  Don't get me wrong, I'm super appreciative of Divvy and not having to sacrifice yet another personal bike to the salt gods, but they are tanks to ride over a 6-7 mile commute.  I Divvied this morning, and the bike was whistling with the headwind --literally, the bike will whistle in sufficient wind.   We'll see what the conditions are like this evening, but I'm pretty sure I'll be taking the CTA if the expected 3-6 inches of snow falls.

I took Divvy today for the same reasons. Surprised the werent preamptively salting the roads. Lucky me, rode one that was fresh from a tune up.

Ok so whos riding through the thundersnow?

I just rode to a doctors appointment. This is certainly the most challenging riding conditions all winter! I highly suggest finding an alternative way home tonight. The snow is wet as lumpy and turns to ice on your rims.

Other than that. THUNDERSNOW!

Even on streets where plows pass often (like State St. in the Loop), it doesn't take long for the snow to accumulate. It's very heavy and wet. Challenging conditions for getting around by any means. Wishing you all safe travels this evening.
