What I'm looking for are your personal preferences and why?

I'm in the market for a new bag but I want some user feedback.

Currently, I'm leaning toward the typical Chrome style bag because it seems like a good, reliable bag. However, I'm open to suggestion.

For the most part, this'll be my everyday-everywhere bag. My contents will usually be: A laptop, a digital camera, a book & magazines, a change of shirt, a PSP and 420 accessories.

I'm sort of wanting a bag with a few hidden pockets for obvious reasons, and I'll probably transport an occasional beer now & then.

So, whadaya think?

I have been using a Vaya bag ( http://vayabags.com ) I got at Renegade for a few years and I like it. I have the smaller size, don't think it would fit a laptop. But I like it because -

- Its handmade buy a woman in new york
- Colors are great an wide ranging, infinity customizable design.
- Made for bikers,
- Unique and not trendy

i like my chrome bag too.

i'm really interested in seagull bags. has anybody tried one?
My Chrome bag has served me well and has proven quite durable and functional...but they're arguably getting a little played out if looks and street cred factor into your decision.

In addition to Reload, Seagull, Freitag, and so forth...you might also check out Banjo Brothers. They are more known for panniers and seat bags and such, but they make a nice messenger bag that is comparable in quality to Chrome and Timbuk2 but for much less money. Their large messenger bag retails for $79.

Hope this helps

I have a Manhattan Portage Grey NY Bike Messenger Bag for sale if you are interested. I actually really love messenger bags to ride with but I bought this and it is a little to big for what I need it for. It will definitely meet all the requirements that you are looking for. I have only used it once, it's still crisp its so new and im looking to give it a good home. I have attached a picture of the bag from the Manhattan Portage Website. The bag I have is a light grey bag and I bought the shoulder strap to go with it. Let me know if you are interested.
Oh and I originally bought the bag and strap for $95 plus 10 bucks shipping and handeling but am willing to give you a deal. It's an awesome quality bag.
Panniers. I do NOT like stuff on my back while i'm riding, and I also frequently like to carry a lot. Right now I'm using two that I made out of back packs, one I was able to keep the straps as well, so I can take it off an put it on my back if I need to. Not super comfortable in that position, but hey, it works.
That one is unfortunately wearing out, so I'm looking to a Nashbar one that's similar.
I have a Timbuk2 and I like it... I'm not so down with the backpack idea, I like having my strap across my body.

I use a sealline shoulder bag and it works for me. If you get the large bag like I did, you can pretty much stuff just about everything in there. It has an internal organizer and places to attach various accessories (electronics holders, water bottle holders, etc.). I haven't had any issues with it.

I've also got a Timbuk2, and my only complaint is that it isn't big enough anymore. great protection for a laptop.
I get too sweaty in the summer biking to work so I always throw whatever bag I have into the milk crate harnessed to the back of my road bike. Much recommended! It doesn't slow you down at all and is constantly coming in handy!
