The Chainlink

After the warmth on Saturday and the rapid temperature fall on Sunday watch out of the ice, or "Black Ice" as it's often called.

Four block from the Jewel after church to home I fell down twice!

Watch for the flat surfaces with a slope adjacent.  Snow melted, flows over the asphalt, and then freezes.

Look out for metal grate bridges too.. the two I crossed this morning I'm amazed I stayed upright.  Chest and helmet covered in thin sheet of ice when I got home too.  Heck of a contrast from yesterday!

Alley behind my house is slick as hell. The ride to work on Monday mornin is gonna be fun. I'm so glad Rahm is saving money by not salting!

Awesome. Not looking forward to the commute home. Will report if it's treacherous.

Just in from running a few late night errands by bike.

The extreme cold and resultant dryness seems to have sucked most of the frost off the ground at this point, although I'd still be wary of darker patches on asphalt or concrete.

Monday AM should not be difficult for anyone except for the cold.

No ice spotted this morning on my ride.

I took a spill less than a block from home on Sunday.  The pavement was ok , but the crosswalk paint (or whatever) iced over first.  A simple turn at the wrong spot and I was down. Careful out there.
