Take our survey about riding in the Milwaukee and/or Dearborn protected bike lanes

Ride on Milwaukee or Dearborn?  We want to hear from you.  Please take our survey - details and the link to the survey are below.

___

I would like to invite you to participate in our national study of protected bike lanes. We are asking bicycle riders in six cities across the country to share their experiences riding on protected bike lanes in their cities. In particular, in Chicago, we are looking for feedback about your experiences on the protected bikeways on Milwaukee Avenue and Dearborn Street.

After conducting targeted "intercepts" of bicyclists on Milwaukee and Dearborn (you may have received a postcard invitation from us already), we are now opening the survey up to get as much feedback as possible. You can take the survey by going to this website:

The survey should take about 10-20 minutes, and will give us valuable insight into what makes a good protected bike lane. We ask that all surveys be completed by November 30th. We’ll be sharing feedback, including what works and what doesn’t work, with the Chicago Department of Transportation, and with a national audience.

Your participation in the survey is voluntary. We will protect the confidentiality of your individual survey responses. If you have concerns or problems about your participation in this study or your rights as a research subject, please contact the Human Subjects Research Review Committee, Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships, Market Center Building Suite 620, Portland State University, 503-725-4288 / 877-480-4400. If you have any questions about the study, contact us at 503-725-2875 or streets@pdx.edu.

Feel free to share the survey broadly.

Thanks!

Hi Cameron.

Thanks for your interest!  We will be sharing our findings broadly - we'll post our report on the project website (http://otrec.us/research/page/neighborhood_street_study) and share findings with each of the cities involved in the study.  Any journal articles that come about as a result of this research will be posted there as well down the road.  I'll make a point to come back here and link to the report when its ready as well.

Thanks to those that have taken the survey so far!  We'll continue to collect surveys responses until November 30th so please take a minute to tell us about your experiences riding on the Milwaukee Avenue and Dearborn Street:

Done.

Hi Cameron -

We didn't intercept riders on other routes.  That's one of the main reasons we are widening the net now to get as much feedback as possible (including from those people may have experience on these routes but may not ride them regularly).

Have there been any targeted intercepts of riders on parallel routes to get feedback from riders who are choosing not to use the protected lanes?
