The Chainlink

So...I'm going to Ann Arbor Michigan for about 10 days soon, and I have/need/want to take my bike. I have no car - amtrak doesnt allow bikes on the MICH trains - even in a box on board. I am wondering if anyone has tried megabus.com with a bike box, as I can't find anything online about over sized luggage.
thanks!

Folding bikes are good though, it seems - at least according to a blog comment I found here:

http://bcgp.blogspot.com/2009/05/let-get-bike-access-on-amtrak.html

"Ironically, today (May 4) is the two-year anniversary since Amtrak revised its conductor rulebook ("Operations Standard") to formalize allowing Folding Bikes, which previously had been mentioned as allowed on the website but in practice prohibited by many conductors."

But why is "Folding Bikes" capitalized? This is why I'm in the market for a Bike Friday.

I smell a letter writing campaign.
I'm under the impression boxed bicycles are allowed on Greyhound...
ive taken my bike on mega bus befor. they dont like u to. but they will sometimes allow it. i bought a soft bike bag for 40$ at performance and ive taken my bike that way on megabus about 20 times that way.

so get a bag and take mega bus. should be good.
thanks everybody -joe, this is what i was wondering. If i get down there with my bike in a bag/box am I gonna be able to convince them to let me throw it underneath. I'll give it a shot...too bad I dont have the time to ride to AA.
