The Chainlink

The point of the Bicycle Photo Tag is to reproduce a similar photo of an object or place that can be found in many different locations around the world. Much like a scavenger hunt, examples include specific street signs, a railway crossing with train, yourself at a toll booth with reciept, etc.... Get creative

Rules are easy...

1. Find a SIMILAR (ie; Not The Same, Different) tag and reproduce the photo (as best as possible). Take the tag to a new location, get the photo and post it here.
2. Upon posting your new tag, the tagger is responsible for specifying what it is in the photo that must be reproduced. Be specific, but not so specific that no one else will be able to play because we couldn't find another pink school bus.
* Try to place the tags in interesting locations, objects or places that could probably be found in at least the majority of the planet.
3. Tag must be: Common amongst all human habitation. Dirt is ok, but remember most of us are on street bikes. We don't want to exclude those who don't like to get dirty (wimps).
4. The first person to post a found tag gets to place the next tag. If you get a tag, but somebody else posts their picture first, you lose (bruced).
5. One tag at a time within thread. File photos are NOT permitted. You gotta ride to play this game.
6. No whining There are plenty of folks here that will help you understand the rules
7. The holder of the tag determines if the tag has been duplicated and acknowledges it by posting on the thread. (Surrendering the Tag)
8. No Pre-Arranged Tag Handoffs / Linear Tag sequence
9. Last but not least, should the tag be soo ridiculous that no one is able to reproduce it, it can be voted down if a majority of the active participants feel necessary.

Remember, the point of this is not to win the game, or get a better picture than the guy who just "bruced" you, the point is the ride. On that note, if someone tags a post office. Rather than get out and ride a block to my local post office, I might ride an hour or so, out to the historic post office a few neighborhoods over.... Make it interesting.

So the first tag is your bike in front of a house with Xmas lights

That tags it,  I think that's the lock in the left part of the picture, because that red ladder top is on the lock.

Hopefully the new tag will be one we can get on the Hobo ride.  Bike with a drunk hobo?

NEW TAG...YOUR BIKE AT A 'VERIFIED' HAUNTED LOCATION.

Halloween is just around the corner, so the new tag is your bike at a haunted location, and you must share the story and give some news link.  Below is my bike at "Death Alley", the alley behind the Orient Theater now named Couch Place.  Briefly, it is the site of the Iroquois Theatre fire in 1903 where 602 people died.  The upper balcony sustained the greatest damage, with over 200 victims stacked up to 10 deep found behind the locked doors.  However, some made it to the fire escape door behind the top balcony only to find that the staircase was missing.  Instead they found a platform that plunged 100 feet to the alley below.  Painters across the alley tried to quickly put up a makeshift bridge and did in fact save some people.  But, many others fell to their death.  The passage way behind the theater is referred to as "Death Alley" after almost 150 victims were piled in the alley, either by the fireman or having fallen to their deaths.

The full story can be read at http://www.weirdchicago.com/iroquois.html (or wikipedia, or any number of other google-able sites).

Unexpected beautiful week and a few more to come!  Get out and ride!!

Previous Tag: Your bike at a "Verified" Haunted Location." While I can't personally vouch for paranormal activity, it would stand to reason that out of 844 lost souls (who were on their way to a picnic no less), a couple of them might still be pissed off 98 years later. I direct your attention to this entry from no less of an authority on these matters than the Ghost Research Society.

Next tag within the next 12 hours or so...

Great tag Kevin. There are quite a few downtown locations that are supposedly haunted.  On to the next tag!

While I was totally aware of the Eastland disaster (from various "Chicago history" shows on PBS) I didn't know there was a plaque/sign with info about it at the site. I'll have to ride over there and check it out one day. Good tag!

That was a bit more than 12 hours, but here you go. I'm trying to keep it seasonal, but you can take your pick. Here is a photo of my bike in front of what is presently The Castle Nightclub, 632 N Dearborn. In 1915, it was the former Chicago Historical Society building and it is reported as having served as a temporary morgue of some of the victims of the Eastland Disaster. It is also reported as being haunted as early as its days as the Limelight back in the '80's.

So for the NEW TAG, take your pick: (a) Your bike at a haunted location; or (b) your bike with Halloween decorations.

Since I already did a haunted location (of which there are so many! not sure why no one else has posted a pic for the tag), I'll go with Halloween decorations:

Does this qualify?  It's more of a sculpture but then again it's decorating the LFP.  I'll post a new tag after the evening commute home.

Works for me. Go get the new tag!
