What a bunch of jerks, putting bollards right in your way.

The UPS truck is way worse.  Generally you have a mirror on your left. The truck is wide and its not so easy to see that far to the right.  The white truck picture allows you to go up on the sidewalk with little fear. While I understand that bike lanes can and will get blocked, both of these pictures show lazy and obnoxious drivers. In both pictures there looks like a decent option for the driver.  I often seen a car double parked on Wells and can be  much more sympathetic if that car is dropping off somebody or picking them up with a limited footprint in the lane. The usually is nowhere else to go.

Not much different from this.  I see this every day.  When I posted about it, I got flamed that "Its all for commerce and the good of the city".  Blah blah blah..

Expect the, "are you afraid to just merge into traffic" From Dug and the gang.

this is a little different, actually.  the truck in the OP comment belongs to the business it is parked in front of.  they have their own space or space nearby.  this UPS truck, is on a delivery route with no such space.

however, that is a loading zone in the lower left of the pic, so yeah, he should have gone there.  in this case, my suggestion would be the same.  take pic, truck number, send to UPS, and hope they talk to the driver.

That discussion was about trucks that have no other place to park but must make deliveries. This example does not represent such a situation.

Because this thread is a bit of an off-shoot from the delivery truck situation in that there is an obstruction in the bike lane. Was just curious.

I think it sucks and support any effort to get it to not be parked there.

Why?

Would love to hear what DUG and/or h' think about this picture.

Do you know if the van parks there, or is it just standing?

I think you took away something other than the position I expressed there.

For whatever reason, I can never express a sentiment that agrees in any way with Dug's without someone thinking we're a hive mind and assuming we agree on each position offline before every posting.

That guy is a huge douche; he is in a buffered lane it looks like and there is no reason to be there.  Double parking in a normal bike lane is a whole different thing.

It's a lot different; the one in this post is parked in a protected/buffered lane.

I have a gang?

If I do who are they and can we start having meetings?

Will we get cool leather jackets and switch-balde knives?

Wait, there are times you agree with me!?

FYI, you are not allowed to agree with me unless you are a member of my 'gang.'

There is an initiation fee and severe hazing.

The protected bike lane makes obstructions worse because you're stuck in a tunnel of parked cars. Depending on how far from the end to the block the obstruction is, you may not have very many options to go around it.
