bike storage

anybody have one of those floor to ceiling bike storage dealies? I'm in a small apt,and I need to get my bike off the floor......hopefully on the cheap

I wanted to buy one of those floor to ceiling things, but ended up buying a horizontal bike hanger. it wasn't super expensive, and there are cheaper versions but mine hangs two bikes at once. I got it at performance

I got something made by Saris that works well without holes in the wall. It leans against the wall nicely. Two pieces of foam are the points of contact no marking or slipping. Holds two bikes, not too much real estate on the floor. Plus it looks pretty cool. I found it on CL for $25.

Depending on how nice of a place you have and what type of security deposit you put down, Home Depot sells some thicker hooks that are specificly for bikes. I used live in a dump where the place was falling apart anyway, so making two holes in the ceiling wasn't a big deal at all. If I remember correctly they were only something like $5 a piece. Although it's not specifically what you were asking, I wanted to throw it out there just in case it helped.

I've had luck with the Minoura Closet Cyclist 2. It's freestanding and I find it stable, but it's not the cheapest solution. Your local bike shop can likely order one.
