Derailleur Help

I have a very OLD steel frame bike with steel wheels. There are no markings to identify the manufacturer. The identification on the rear derallier says "Synchromesh" and "Excel." It has 5 cogs. I managed to make a mess of the derailleur when trying to adjust it. Is there any bike shops that have worked with this kind of derailleur and could help me put the pieces back togerther?

Excel is the manufacturer! They are no longer in business. They were an Illinois based company that made derailleurs and also interesting bike drivetrain concepts like the CambioGear (see pic).

Does your derailleur have an "R" logo on it anywhere? Or maybe the word "Rino"? If so, this was a higher end derailleur (for its time).
