Ok, I give up. Is this a trick question? Like "guess the 10 differences"?

no trick. those two dogs just look extremely uncomfortable...but they probably are not.

that's it. It was taken at a dog show and it just seemed strange to have them 'crated'.

It's the rule of thumb that a crate should allow for a dog to stand up and turn around?!?

I think those crates are the same size as the one I put my 6lb dog in.

I know you are a "dog person", so I am probably stating the obvious, but . . .

My two dogs have been "crate-trained" since puppyhood.  Those crates are their houses and where they feel safe.  On the other hand--while I would not be surprised that dogs at dog shows are in their crates while not being shown--those two do look like they are in crates that are too small for them.

Are we seeing the short sides of a longer rectangular crate?

Nothing

I would be surprised if the dogs would "scrunch" themselves like that if there was more space available.

I would be surprised if dog show people would provide their "stars" with less than lavish accommodations. Animals often seem to recline in a position which provides contact with an adjacent surface.

I was trying to come up with something else to be surprised about but came to the conclusion that there were no more surprises.

Another thing that is wrong with this picture is that the person who took the screen shot appears to be using Windows. Not wrong per se, but at least very sad.
