Don't laugh. So, it was kind of a long Saturday night/Sunday morning for me. I locked my brown Surly somewhere in UK Village, but don't know where-probably near Chicago and Oakley. I live in a totally different neighborhood and cabbed it home as I had way to much to drink. If anyone sees a Brown Surly Cross Check-like most Surly's the decals are essentially worn off-please let me know. Thanks.

I hope you had 2 ulocks on it. My milwaukee was parked at walton an oakley for and hour and a half two weeks ago and someone stole my seat and post and my rear wheel and attempted to steal my bars
Cop pals tell me that the price of metal recycling is such that thieves will take ANYTHING that's metal. So, besides a seat leash, we now need to weld our damn bars and racks to the frame. . .

OH ADAM...You dummy, lol i'm not laughing, we've all done it @ least once.
I had a late lunch yesterday @ The LockDown on corner of Cortez/Western. I noticed quite a few bikes locked up outside of the Empty Bottle and i could swear there was a Brown Surly. Wouldn't hurt to go look right? Good Luck!
Thanks for the advice. Its weird. I know I locked it somewhere-I have a NYC lock-because my keys were in my pannier. I left the pannier-I am sure its long gone-but when I got home I had my keys. Therefore, I took my keys out of the pannier at some point that night.
It would help to know what bars/clubs/art showings/whatever you were at. Do you not remember even that much? lol...
Think intensely about it for short bursts of time and when you're exhausted stop, and go do something else. Repeat. Keep calm, you'll find it. Good luck.
I was trying to get to the Clipper from the Hideout Block Party. Realizing the Clipper was probably closed, I tried to find my friends apartment in UK Village. Its actually kind of scary to think I was riding my bike.
It was good! The drinking was after the show. Well, most of it.

Dang-- rode past Chicago and Oakley twice yesterday. I have a vague smidgen of a memory of seeing a bike like this, but I'd say the margin of error there is about 99%.
I do hope you remember at least a little something about Saturday night, because Wlco's performance was top-notch (and I wouldn't even really say I'm much of a fan.)
I like in Ukrainian Village, post a pic up of your bike. It'll help me id your bike easier than verbally
Thanks everyone. I drove around the neighborhood last night and did not find it-I think bk is probably right about the gnomes. I'm not surprised. That is what stupid behavior gets you.
However, if someone does see a brown Surly with most of the decals rubbed off in UKville, the only distinguishing feature it really has is it has a u-lock permanently rusted onto the right side of the rack. It is probably joined on the rack by the useable u-lock. The handlebars at the end shifters are pretty tattered as well.
Anyway, should I get a LHT to replace it? :P
+1 to LHT!

Greg Davies has a similar story. He couldn't find his bike, assumed it was stolen, and then a few days or even a week later later found it on a different street.
Hope it wasn't stolen.
