The Chainlink

I was heading south on Elston this morning and a car dealer had three cars for sale parked in the bike line. The dealer is just north of Hamlin.  I yelled "This is a bike lane"  to what might have been a sales person and gestured to the lane, but I didn't have time to take a picture. Hopefully they moved the cars.  If not someone should take a picture.  I will check it out on my way home.

If you can come up with an address we can get some collective action going here to get this solved quickly.

Not sure it'll help but here's Google Maps for the Elston and Hamlin area.

  Agree!

It might have been around 4254 North Elston. I looked on the Google Map, but it shows a auto repair not car dealership.   I was going pretty fast because I was late for work.   I took note of Hamlin, the first intersection I came to after I passed it.  I am sure it was dealership because all the cars in the bike lane had price tags in their windshield.  (I was checking for drivers since I was in the door zone).  Sorry guys, I should have noted the name of the dealership.

It is illegal to have cars for sale in the public way including having signage/phone numbers/prices dealer or not this does not matter. Ticketable offense, call 311 and report it. Some jokers had two cars for sale in front on my apartment building and the meter maid got them last week.

Good to know!  I will call 311 if I see it again.  Funny that parking in bike lane wasn't on that list you linked to....I thought that was illegal as well

311 is the wrong place to call if you're hoping to have cars ticketed. They'll just transfer you to 911. Why tie up both?

911 is not meant for "Non-Emergency" calls

Unless the parked car for sale hit you, they will likely transfer your 911 call to 311 a ticket violation is likely considered a "Non-Emergency".

"A non-emergency incident is one that does not involve a crime in progress; does not pose an imminent threat to life, bodily injury or major property damage or loss; and does not require the immediate dispatch of a police unit.

Non-emergencies include crimes such as pickpocketing, theft from an automobile, deceptive practices, criminal damage to property, garage burglary, auto theft and other offenses in which the offender is no longer at the scene."

"Speak directly to desk personnel at your police district station. This option is useful for passing along information to or trying to contact your beat officers or other district personnel. "

Actually anything that requires the police, emergency or not, is routed through 911.  If you call 311 to have a car ticketed they put you through to 911.

If it is illegally parked them it would fall right about here "crime in progress" and "which the offender is no longer at the scene". If the car is still parked there? So I can see it as a 911 call.

I'm sorry, but this is a ridiculous argument. All you would have to have done is to ever have tried to get a vehicle ticketed by calling 311, and you would know better.

Actually if you could note the location and the business name, if any, it would be great if you could post it here so others can help.
