I use one when commuting. Thankfully I've never had to use it. But the trick is to use it every day. I've had plenty of close calls when I didn't have my camera. But once you get one you'll want a second one to point backwards. :)

@ Chris B, do you use a GoPro or something similar? Would be cool to see how you have set up your system.

I've thought of installing a camera before.  I was wondering:  if you use a video as evidence in a suit, can the evidence of your own traffic infractions on the video (rolling through stop signs, going through a red light after a quick stop, etc) prior to the collision work against you, even if you were committing no infraction at the time of the collision?
