The Chainlink

So I've been getting into long distance cycling and getting up to 600+ miles a month. I've read I should invest in getting massages (semi-regularly) for a variety of reasons.

Does anyone on here have any recommendations in terms of technique (e.g. sports, thai, myofascial release), facility, or even specific therapist? I know Athletico works with the xXx guys but little beyond that in terms of cyclist specific best practices.

Thanks!

My girlfriend is a licensed massage therapist (and a cyclist) and works with a medical team in the south loop and has her own private massage therapy studio in the loop. You can contact her at renee@fixedtherapeutic.com if you're interested.

Sports massage, myofascial release, and many other modalities are all incredibly beneficial to recovery and performing at your best. Even traditional Swedish has been proven to help speed recovery and improve range of motion. It all depends on your goals.

Phil, I can effectively push the lactic acid out of muscle tissue with a Thumper Equine Pro.  $310.00 shipped.  http://www.thumpermassager.com/equinepro.html

Using it twice a day on quads and calves, as needed.  500+ miles in the summer months, winter is 400+ commuter miles.  Less miles than your booking but hey my knee grease is older.  ; )

are you a horse? how are you typing?

don't let your wife find that thing, your electric bill will go through the roof

Phil,

Tara at Holistic Health Practice is the best I have been to at Superior and State, just south of Holy Name.

You can call her or email: 312.664.8376 or tsullivan@holistichealthpractice.net

I have nothing to gain; I have used massage therapists for decades and once dated one. Tara is the best ... therapist, that is.
