/Moving and Will Be Giving Away a Bunch of Stuff :-) Updated: 7/10/12

Rob & I will be moving to Michigan by the end of the month to live with and care for my Grandma and Mom. Since it is such short notice, we have some things we will need to give away as we don't want to lug too much into a house that is already filled with stuff. Also, since I am currently commuting from Michigan to Chicago for my job via the train lines, I don't have the ability to deliver anything at this time.  I'll post more pics as I go through all the stuff. I am on the second floor of a fairly easy walk-up apartment and can help moving it if needed.

1)   I still have available an old Kenmore Convertible sewing machine. The machine needs a new belt and a could use a tune-up ($60 quoted from a sewing machine store), but it is sturdy, solid, works if you get a belt for it, and it is free for someone who wants to pick it up and it even comes with the original manual and some accessories. The sewing table has been taken, but the machine is still here.

2) **PROMISED**We may also be giving away a sturdy cabinet/table thing that we use as a kitchen island- there is storage inside for pots and pans or whatever, and it could probably be used as a nice workspace/storage space in a garage. It looks kind of shabby chic whitewashed and would be really cute if it was painted or stained. Dimensions: 29" wide, 39" long, 32" tall.

3) Old computer parts- we have a bin of old computer parts. Not sure exactly what is in there, but it is a giant rubbermaid container full of parts.

4) **PROMISED**Old iron baker's rack- still sturdy, could use some cleaning and maybe a few screws on the decorative pieces. The rack is 71" tall, 14" deep and 27" wide and will be cleared of junk before pick-up.

5) Soccer shoes with rubber cleats- Men's Size 12 Nike Soccer shoes in box. I do not think Rob ever wore them and they appear to be new in box.

If you would like to donate some boxes, packing tape or a 2 liter of Diet Coke in exchange, I would accept, but the stuff is all free to a good home and I don't expect anything for it- I just need to pare down what we are taking with us.

I am sure there is more stuff we will want to give away. All of it is functional and I am sure that someone out there could use it and I would hate to toss it and have no time for Craigslist.  I haven't even gotten to the cycling stuff yet- I do know we have a nice frame and a lot of parts in our storage area that will be given away as well and I will add to this list as I go through our things.

Thank you!

i would definitely be interested in 2 and 4

I'd be happy to take the sewing machine.  I'll send you a PM.  :)

Thanks for the responses- this week will be pretty hectic with the July 4th holiday- but I will be back in Chicago on the evening of the 5th after 5:30 for anyone who wants to stop by and pick things up, as well as next week starting Monday- Thursday after 5:30pm. Just friend and PM me and I'll give you my address and we can arrange pick-up times.

Melanie - why are you guys leaving us?????  I understand, but I'm a little sad. Come back soon. We may just have to plan a ride to MI!  Where in MI?

It is a little sad as I will miss everyone on Chainlink. Of course, we'll only be about 2 1/2 hours away in the southwestern portion of Michigan. The town is called Dowagiac, but we're actually out by Indian Lake which is about 8 miles west of town. There are really beautiful roads to bike on so if you want to visit, feel free to give us a call- Amtrak actually stops there, and about 40 minutes away is the South Shore Train that goes from South Bend, Indiana to Chicago.   More info on the move when we get it since this was an emergency decision made last week and we're just trying to get as much as we can done as soon as possible.

I'll be going through things tonight and posting pictures of stuff- I'll hold 2 & 4 for Igz, the sewing machine for Yello Jello, and someone is interested in the bike parts I might have as well, even though I have yet to even get down into the storage area to see what we have.  I'll be updating as I start packing away and finding other stuff Rob & I have accumulated over the years that just won't work in the space we are going to be living. Thanks to everyone for their interest!

Sorry it didn't work out. I should have mentioned the dimensions before- lesson learned. Thank you for coming by and trying as I appreciated the effort.

Melanie, are the items too heavy for a bike trailer?

Melanie, Is the sewing machine attached to the table?

I could use a sewing table, but I already have a machine

The machine is removable from the table. I also believe the table would fit any standard sewing machine that has four bolt holes on the base.

ok, I'll take a look at my machine tonight, do you know the dimensions of the bolt holes?

The white cabinet is more bulky than heavy but I couldn't really tell you how much it weighs. The baker's rack is pretty lightweight. If you had a longer flatbed trailer I believe those could be moved via bicycle trailer.  The sewing table minus the machine would also be light enough, as the machine is what gives it most of the weight.  None of the items weigh more than 60-80 lbs which I think is the weight limit of some kiddie trailers.  I can lift up all of the items by myself and carry them - the heaviest is the sewing machine w/table.
