The Chainlink

would like to make this a 3-day-er so the bones can relax a bit longer. lets nail down some dates.

Slingshot via metra to Joliet.  google maps proposed route.  ~62 miles along the I&M canal trail that follows the Des Plaines and Illinois Rivers, and of course, the canal and is almost entirely off roads. there is a shortcut that can shave 3 miles but takes ya off the I&M trail.

 googledoc link for reservations

rsvp's will be made for commitment purposes and site reservations via googledoc/paypal.

mules are welcome!

I found it: Rock Island District Line, 8:30am-9:55am on Sat, is that it? This one runs on Sun too. Fare is $6.75/one way, is this line good for the Metra weekend pass of $5? Karlene and Julie, I would love to take up your offer if our schedules sync up. Do you have room for another bike though?

I see limit of 15 bikes/train, hopefully we don't get bumped on the outbound.

hey loan - we have a bike rack that fits three bikes, so that shouldn't be a problem... i think it's just a matter of when we leave (we're still entertaining the idea of coming back early monday morning).  when do you need to be back in the city?

Ryan,

I could get a 2 person tent if needed, but if you could spare some room for me in your 2P that'd be great!

If you're going fill in the google docs column under people for the appropriate site.  Just remember there's a limit of 4 people and 2 tents for each site so some doubling up in the tents will be necessary.

Nice!  That may just work for me too since the ride starts at 10 am a few blocks away at Downtown Islamic Center at 231 S. State Street.  We are leaving around 10:30.   Loan, awesome!

Julie, that sounds great, thanks so much! I will likely need a ride back on Sun morning to downtown Joliet only, as I wanna check out the town a bit before heading back to Chicago on train.

weekend pass is now $7, but still worth it. the RI district runs weekdays and weekends, the heritage only during the week.

should be able to do it online...

Do they keep some open for day of on Thur or Fri?  Or can we reserve by phone or online with only 2 weeks notice?

ya, yall would need to get another site.  the three we have are filled.

so is it 62 miles from Joliet?

something like that, according to googlemaps/bike

And it looks like Heritage doesn't allow bikes due to their run times, so the Rock Island line is our way to and from Joliet.

Sanchitch, campsites are limited to 4 people/2 tents.  I'm bringing my 2-person tent with the intention of sharing it with someone.  You're more than welcome to be my tentmate.
