The Chainlink

Very cool: Two people, two seats, two sets of handlebars, four pedals, two wheels. They were chatting in a relaxed manner as they pedaled down Lincoln today. Anyone seen a tandem like this before?

Near as I can make out that doesn't exist.

Good job on the quick photo.

Must be a custom job.

I thought it was really cool as they rode by but now that I'm thinking through details, I can't imagine sharing steering responsibilities with someone else, no matter how well I get along with them.

Not quite as cool as the tandem unicycle.

Ive seen old side-by-side (or "sociable") bikes in museums but I havent seen a modern one in person.

Here's a recumbent version: http://www.justtwobikes.com/models_dual.html

I love the attachable umbrella option!

...and an adorable video!

I'm sure it's just like riding a bike..... *chuckle*

I thought I saw a tandem with the front person sitting in a recumbent position and a traditional seating position in the rear.  Their faces didn't seem that far apart so probably easier to converse?

Saw this on the LFP a few years back:

I wonder if the seat post transom is adjustable to account for differing rider weights and to help stabilize the CG over the wheels to keep the bike from pulling to the heavy side.

I think it's the same two people in Michelle's pic that are in Larry's pics. Still together after all that time while sharing steering duties. Now that's true love!

that picture is just outside my office and there will be a commuter pit stop there on Wednesday morning of Bike To Work Week.  We will look out for them!
