U-Locking Techinque! Includes saddle!
Since I've started locking my bike this way I've been more calm about locking it on the street.
Depending on your saddle height it could work for you too.
It's kind of tricky to get the U-lock through in the right way but you'll figure it out with a little trial and error.

I prefer to lock my frame and use cable locks for the wheels and seat. I have a Kryptonite 'Faggedaboudit' lock, so it's small and doesn't fit around the frame and wheel at the same time.

Yeah, good idea if your would prefer to have your wheels stolen. At least you can still ride home if the saddle was stolen.

You don't actually have to lock the frame if you put the lock around the rear wheel.
Just saying.
I use a mini too, and I can almost always lock the rear wheel and frame together. This isn't my bike. Its just a pic I found.

I that picture, the lock doesn't appear to be going around the frame. Just the wheel. Correct me if I'm wrong.

All the rear wheels on my bikes cost much more than my saddles, I use Amber K's method with a cable for the front wheel and seat. I have been meaning to put a chain on my seat so I don't have to snake the cable through there every time.

Correct.
The idea is that locked through the wheel like that they cannot get the wheel or the bike separated. It is called the 'Sheldon Method' after the late Sheldon Brown. It worked for him but he also lived in an area much less prone to bike theft; as you can see from the video above it has some weaknesses.

I pretty much take anything Sheldon says as Gospel. But like the Gospel, some of it was conceived in a different time and place and is no longer relevant. In the same "Lock Strategy" article http://www.sheldonbrown.com/lock-strategy.html
he suggests:
Just leave the lock at work, locked to whatever you normally lock your bike to. Carry a light cable lock with you for quick errands or emergencies.
Please don't do this! There are so many locks attached to the bike rack where I work that some of the slots in the rack are actually unusable. Also, here in Chicago the "light cable lock" is only marginally better than the helmet strap trick or the sheer luck involved in using nothing at all.
