Police on Chicago's West Side are questioning three men after officers busted what they said was a large criminal fencing operation and found about $100,000 worth of stolen goods at a West Garfield Park graystone.

Austin District tactical officers executed a search warrant at a two-flat building in the 4300 block of West Congress Parkway about 5:20 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Police suspected the building of being the site of a fencing operation well known to neighbors. When they searched the building and property, officers found a large number of stolen items in the building and a truck and attached trailer.

The stolen goods, which police estimated were worth about $100,000, included including power tools, bicycles, construction equipment, televisions and other audio-visual equipment, police said.

Police scheduled a media viewing of the stolen items for this afternoon, and public viewing from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Austin District Police Station, 5701 W. Madison Street.

The three men were still being questioned this afternoon.

Another huge police bust means there are tons of bikes to be re-claimed.  Most items were taken from northside garages over the last year and a half.  Details in this story: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-hundreds-of-s...

You can flip a cheap bike for $40-50 bucks very easy.

In the WGN report, one citizen said he found everything that had been taken BUT his road bike.  Guess that was already sold.
