Jamis Coda Sport (black and silver) Stolen from infront of my apartment

Hi

Please keep an eye out for my Black Jamis Coda Sport. I just purchased it this Fall from Roscoe Village Bikes (my first adult purchase). It has a Schwinn light on the front and a quicktrak rack. It's the most money I've ever spent on anything and I'm really bummed. They removed the street sign that I had it locked to. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I filed a report with the police and the Chicago Stolen Bike Registry. I was thinking of going down to Swap-O-Rama tomorrow after reading some previous threads but I don't really understand how to go about doing that. I would be greatful for any other suggestions or of course sightings.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your helpful response and the information about Swap-O-Rama. I'm definitely a little more hesitant to go now it sounds a little scary but if I can rustle up a posse I really want to do everything I can to find my bike.

Thanks again!

Anne,

Sorry about your bike.

If you have the time, and someone to go with you, the Swap-O-Rama trip can't hurt, but typically bikes stolen by someone taking the time to work a sign out of the ground end up in local street-people/gang/junkie circles rather than at 41st and Ashland being fenced by high-volume 'professional" thieves.

I'll send you some info I prepared on what to do there.

Just getting some more specific info out there in case someone spots my bike

Jamis Coda Sport Size:15 Color: Black

Commuter frame w/ 700c wheels

Also should I be afraid to go into Swap O Rama to look for my bike?

Comb CL daily.

Painful situation.

Thank you Howard, that makes perfect sense.  People like to hunt.  Must be in our DNA.

Anne I like this for searching CL: http://www.searchtempest.com/

This for CL and fleebay: http://bike.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/bike.cgi

I honestly have no background on this topic but am guessing it's going to be liquidated or transacted locally.  Within 50 miles.

"There are community-minded folks in the Chicago cycling community who check local craigslist and eBay listings against stolenbike.org listings and contact the victims to alert them to a possible match . . .would be great if more people would do so.

Thank you all so much! For your advice.

It is great to know that there are people out there who help one another out this way.
