Bicycle Makeover Contest

I assume all the chainlinkers have beautiful, perfectly functioning bicycles... but maybe you have a friend with a bit of a rustbucket with crazy handlebars and a torn up saddle? Are you embarrassed to be seen with this friend whilst riding? Show some compassion and send them my way for a free makeover. Winners will be amazed at the results :)

Is your unfortunate looking bike crimping your style? Does your Schwinn squeak? Does your Murray moan? Does your Raleigh really need a new look?

In kicking off the new Bicycle Makeover service here at TATI Cycles, each month we'll be turning frowns upside down for one lucky cyclist. One full makeover will be rewarded each month for all of 2009! Ideal candidates should have sad, rusty, unsafe, and bareful running steeds. Bonus points if you yourself need a bit of a makeover!

Applicants should drop an email to makeover@taticycles.com and include a 200 word essay on why you and your bicycle need a makeover. Be sure to attach a photo of you with your sad sad bicycle! The deadline is February 6th.

All makeovers will include a full tune-up and replacement of rusty, nonfunctional bits. Components will be lubricated and tuned. Some or all of the following components will be replaced or upgraded: wheels, tires, chain, bar tape, bars, seatposts, saddles, stem, racks and bags.

Just a reminder that there are only three more days to get your application in for the first TATI Cycles bicycle makeover contest! Thanks to the handful of Chainlinkers who've already applied. There were a few common questions that people had:

1) How will the winner be chosen?
Mostly based on the quality of the essay and the rider's need for a properly functioning (and pretty) bike. However, the more challenging the makeover, the better.

2) What if my frame is broken (or the bike has major problems)?
Sorry, but the makeover doesn't cover the replacement or repair of frames.

3) What is the makeover worth?
Most likely in the $200-300 range, but of course it's possible to go a bit further depending on what components are replaced, etc.

4) What's the catch?
There isn't any catch. All it takes is a few minutes of your time to apply :)
