As per the comments section, plenty of people could tell you why. It's the same thing with their sister shop on Bryn Mawr and Western.

Their labor rates are reasonable, which is a plus. However, I'm not sure there is a market for quirky used bikes, and people aren't rushing in to buy $20 Origin8 bar tape. I've since taken my business to Johnny Sprockets and Turin in Evanston.

Good luck, it appears that you guys are light years ahead of this bike shop:

They are failing, and they don't even know why...

Ooooh, exciting to have a shop at this location. That's close-ish to the end point in my commute and I worry all winter long about getting a rear flat on my cargo rig and having to figure that out road side. Walking distance to Bleeding Heart/Atomix would sweeten the wait time pot too.

Great news guys!  I walked by the other day and saw the big, bright signs.  I bet you'll get good business from our clique which bike commutes to the city building at Chicago and Ashland.

Glad the signs caught your eye! We look forward to the commuter crowd coming through soon. Thanks for tip on the city building, we'll have to be sure and drop some fliers by when we open up.

We'll be a little late to sort out the cargo flats this winter, but if you are near by and flat out, come bang on the door and see if we're around working on the space. I'm sure we'll all have flat kits if the shop isn't stocked yet plus you can use our warm space to slap a patch on.

Thanks Dan, we're looking forward to meeting you.

Any particular brands and/or hub types on the wish list?

Oh I don't know I'm just being a knuckle head because of your shop name and the austere red motif. I am looking forward to your opening and it's always a good sign when a shop starts off straight away with reaching out friendlywise to the community.

Steve; Jesse & I already know Dan quite well. He's been a good friend and welcome visitor at a few shops we've worked in.

Congratulations!

A bit blurry, but here's Jesse deconstructing some wacky fixtures that were set up in the storefront when we got the keys. As you can see, we've got quite a bit of yellow (and banners) to deal with before we open.
