I got doored recently, and now I need to replace the rear wheel on my Trek.  I will take new or used but good condition.  I've been doing internet searches and only came up with a couple hits.  I'd replace it with something similar if you all have any suggestions.  I don't have a ton of money.  Thanks!

You need to know if it is cassette or freewheel and the number of speeds.

It's 9 speed and I'm not sure how to tell if mine is cassette or freewheel.  Can you help me out there?

I would guess that it's cassette because they don't make 9 speeds in freewheel?  Does that sound right?

If it is 9spd it is a cassette.

Any 9spd 700 road wheel will work; any shop in the area should have a wheel that will work for you in stock.

I've got a set of 9 speed Bontrager Race wheels laying around that I bought new in 2005.  They're just sitting in my apartment gathering dust because I built some "training" wheels for one of my bikes and ended up just leaving them on.  The Race wheels are a little lighter than your Select wheels but they've got the same general design: aero rims, bladed spokes, etc.  I can snap some pics tonight when I get home from work if you're interested.

Sure, I'm interested.  kaseibel(at)gmail(dot)com

Now that Kimberly is taken care of I don't feel like I'd be derailing the thread as much, so... anyone have a 700c front road wheel I could take off your hands for relatively cheap?  In pretty much the same situation as Kimberly.

Well if you guys want, I could split the set.  Kimberly gets the rear wheel and Brendan gets the front?  It's kind of a shame to split a set of matched wheels, but if it gets both you guys closer to your goal, I'm ok with it.  Or maybe Kimberly could put the whole set on her bike and sell Brendan her good Select front wheel?

Kimberly, I'll be back in town Friday and I'll take some pics and write you up an email with all the specs.

Haha I like it!  Send us pics and a price.  Give us a package deal?

Yep, sounds good to me.  Just let me know what the asking price is.

Kimberly, if your select wheel doesn't wobble at all, I'll take it if you want.  I'd also be fine with taking the bontrager from Gecko.

Thanks.

Hi Brendan,

My front wheel does need a little truing so I would say take Gecko's.  Any chance I could get it this weekend?  I'm so sad riding around my roommate's heavy, too-small-for-my-legs vintage bike.
