The Chainlink

hey folks, a friend of mine is looking for a place she & her fella could go in Michigan that has cabins in a forest/state park setting (I think she'll camp, but a cabin is preferred) and good trails to do some biking.  They are looking to do this as a weekend getaway, so  within a 4 hour drive is strongly preferred.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Warren Dunes area?
Y'know, I think that's definitely a great spot (and thanks!) but that they've been going there for a while and are looking for something more along the lines of what some of the Wisconsin parks offer in terms of trails & solitude.

There's the Manistee National Forest between Muskegon and Manistee.

Have you considered Brown County, IN? I took a wonderful bikey weekend getaway there a few weeks ago. I highly recommend it!

About a month ago we did the Apple Cider Century ride in SW Michigan and thought the scenery was beautiful. Not sure if they re-paved everything just for the ride but it was nice and smooth! We had a large group and rented a house in Lakeside, MI and took bike trips from there. Most of the riding was on back country roads through apple orchards and grape vineyards. Only about 2 hours away and the back roads are definitely not crowded. I'd go back to the area for riding anyday.

Here's a map to the region --> http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

thanks guys!
