The Chainlink

Well, it finally happened, I got hit by a car tonight.  I was in the bike lane and the car turned right and I had no time to stop. I fell off my bike, landed in the intersection. scrapes and bruises. I am so glad I had a helmet because I felt my head hit hard.

I haven't checked the forum history, any other stories? I know many have been doored. It is amazing the adrenaline rush and then you crash. literally.

Yipes Molly! Sorry to hear it. Don't know if you were injured, if you went to the hospital, or if anyone was ticketed, but you shouldn't discuss those details on a public forum anyway. ActiveTrans has a Crash Support group that everyone raves about. Glad you seem to be mostly OK.

Molly -

You might want to give that a read if you got any details, etc.

Take it easy recovering.

Hope you heal quickly.

1. Quit talking about it on the internet.

2. Get a police report.

3. Get a bike shop to do an assessment on your bike ot make sure it is not damaged as well as an estimate.

4. If anything feels not OK get checked out by the doctor.

5. If you incur any costs seek legal counsel.

Thanks!
Sorry. Be better soon.
Excellent, heartfelt advice here.  Get well soon!
one more thing they missed, replace the helmet !  Glad you will be ok, get well soon and get back on the bike.
Sorry to hear about your accident. You're quite lucky hope you get well soon.

I'd only add to call the Crash Hotline, but Dug is right - these are the things to do.

I'd also add that if you have injuries, start a health journal (as a draft email, addressed to your lawyer) for daily updates about pain, bruising, surgeries, etc.

Perfect advice from Doug and Michael A.

Keep receipts on everything. E.g., the new helmet.

Plus what everyone else said.
