a meh week sofar. Nice commute on Monday. Tuesday took the train in due to a long workday. Yesterday rode in, only to find my tire flat when ready to go home.

I strongly suspect somebody in the building to do it. It's the 3rd time in a few months that it happens. Every time it is a little needle hole in the side wall. I asked building management to review security footage. We'll see what comes out of it.

Didn't have time to fix my flat last night, so took the train in again

Luckily I get to go to Alex's wheel building class at Westtown bikes tonight. Taking a class there is always inspiring and restores my belief in humanity. At least temporarily....

The lite snow was fun last night for the ride home.

I rode. It is cold. I had to ride my 1950-60 era all-steel, 3 speed coaster brake bike as I apparently picked up some glass with my hybrid yesterday during the freezing rain which caused a slow leak in the tire which I did not notice until I went to ride to work and found it flat and had no time to change it. I pumped the 3 speed's tires and rode it's painfully hard seat the 8 miles to work as I refuse to ride public transportation as it is equally painful for me to do that. Anyway, the cold sucks and I am not happy today. Sorry for the ranting, as it would have been a wonderful day to ride if I had my trusty steed, not my rusty steed.

Also, I am sick of the cold.

I'm no longer a Critical Mass virgin!!  So this Grandmother had NO idea where she was this Friday night.  Anyone here that rode along?  We were in a spot with an awesome view of the city, across a lot of flat land.  Was it just before Chinatown??  Where in the heck was I?  The art show was fun.....but darn, it was cold out there!!!  :-)

Congrats. It was the most cohesive ride we've had in a few months.

You're describing the view coming across the 18th street bridge after turning east off of  Canal.

It's traditionally been a favorite spot for Pilsen and Lawndale people to come watch the fireworks on the 4th of July, but a few buildings built in the last 6-8 years have kind of ruined that.

Wow H3N3, thanks for the route!  I hope to be a regular from here on out.
It was chilly out for sure, great ride though. Missed the show, had to stretch the legs and get home to thaw the feet.
Too bad the Racketeers are sweet! and with those giant gas heaters and $2 PBR's=a nice warm up.

Up to Lake/Cook Rd and back from Rogers Park this afternoon.

Dear Weather,

Warm the f**k up!  Freezing temperatures isn't spring.

Saw the Racketeers a few weeks ago... Quite the show, a viewing warms you up.

It was pretty outside today. I have hope that the temperature will rise.

The ride was nice, and I saw some of those warm weather pansies actually riding today. I could tell they were warm weather riders, as some were wearing thick snow pants and jackets, which I had discarded long ago during the winter commuting as I believe I have acclimated to the freezing weather and now anything warmer than a light fleece jacket makes me break out in a sweat.  Anyone wearing such things in this mild weather must not be used to true cold.

A. You are contradicting yourself here

B. Right. Because spring-summer-fall riders are spineless pansies who don't deserve to hang out in the same thread as the hard-core winter folks. Gawd forbid we act like an inviting community that welcomes All kinds of riders

C. What Tank said.

A.  Too many pages to flip through on the old thread.

B.  I wanted to dedicate the old thread to the hard-core Winter folks!

C.  Riding to work and home every day is redundant.  I love it!

I only wish I weren't a warm weather pansy.  I hate being outside when it is cold.  It's no fun on or off a bike.

Having had serious bouts with pneumonia several times in my life and once nearly losing the battle I can assure it is not fun.  Some of us just will not "get used" to it...
