Friday's Bike Winter Art Show Opening-- All Hail Steven!

Not that any of the other events suck, but I wanted to give a little extra facing to two special things happening this week.

The first is tonight-- George Christensen presents his Turkey by Bicycle Tour.

If you've never seen one of George's presentations before, I don't blame you for thinking this sounds like a yawner. If you have, you probably make it a point never to miss one.  'Nuff said.

And then Friday-- the 14th Bike Winter Art Show opening event night-- at a really cool gallery/lost building type space on Halsted just south of Cermak (or do you say Halstead just south of Cermack?).

Northside Critical Mass plans to go opening night.

There'll be a group of us riding down from West Town Bikes leaving shortly after 6pm. People are welcome to join us.

There are 3 bike racks in the vicinity, all near Skylark.

Otherwise there's a fence across from the gallery where people lock their bikes.

I'll be here. Perhaps we can all discuss the future of parking here, like on-street bike parking!

I'm babysitting a nephew, I'll be there in spirit!

Alex--I'd love to ride down with you guys, so I'll meet you at WT at 6 tonight.

Oh, Alex...forgot to ask:  Is Liz riding with us? If so, I'll bring my rain gear! After all, we are heading south of Roosevelt! :) We know what happens when Liz is there.

I don't know how I'd describe tonight's event other than "unbelievably perfect."

As always, Steven outdid himself and took the Art Show to a new level.

Thanks Howard,

Stuart Hall gets a third of the praise pie chart! Stuart has established the gallery connections that have helped the Bike Winter Art Show shift into high gear. And we couldn't have found a better host than Chicago Urban Art Society.

Getting the Bike Winter Art Show into bigger and better galleries has only been possible through funding by West Town Bikes and Bike Winter.

Nick Wilson and Elise Robison from Rapid Transit Cycleshop have also made a big contribution in putting together the 2nd Bike Winter Fashion Show. The fashion show was a big hit last year, and we expect the models to look awesome biking down the runway this year at the Chicago Urban Art Society gallery, Friday March 25, 7pm - 1am [http://chicagourbanartsociety.tumblr.com]
