We haven't been in Chicago long enough (nor riding in the winter) to know whether or not the extensive damage we saw between North Beach and Ohio Street on the Lake Shore path when we rode on Sunday is typical and likely to be repaired by summer?  What a mess!

That stretch is damaged every winter but this year is the worst I've seen it. It is repaired in early spring.
Given that it gets damaged every year, I wonder if there's a way to convince the city that it might be better to take a better approach. E.g. use a concrete surface instead of asphalt or put up a barrier that would protect the asphalt against the worst waves.

According to this Repairs will be made in late March or early April depending on the weather.

I've heard there are long-range plans to fill in part of the lake south of Fullerton to better protect the LFT in that stretch.  Maybe other sections too.  Then there is the plan, in conjunction with the Navy Pier Flyover, to have an elevated trail - cantilevered out from LSD - between Ohio and Oak Streets.  That would be sweet!!
