I was also, quite frankly, horrified by this person:

"I sold my car two years ago," she explained, though judging from her disguise I guess she hasn't gotten over the shame.

"I feel great," she added. "I couldn't believe how much I was sweating in 20 degree weather"--though if you dress that heavily you'll be sweating on the surface of Neptune:

Julie--you are so lucky to be on Bike Snob! I'm teeming with jealousy. Seriously! If I wasn't so afeared of messing up my Grunge Gnome winter style statement, I'd definitely get myself some goggles.

My dream is to first be able to ride a fixie, then have enough $ to spend 5G's on one then pretend I don't care and wrap it in bandannas and ruin it riding in slush.
It' so a wig.  Or a high school picture.

Attached is an undated photo which accompanied an August, 2010 article.

Responding to a comment about attire/gear with a comment about appearance seems disproportionate.

I was just informed via phone that Bike Snob is bald (that's why he always wears a cap) and I should throw that back at him. I don't think I have it in me. Maybe he and his followers are reading this post (I linked it in my comment) hee hee....

Not telling you bike snob who told me about your lack of hair.

And it's so time for a Chicago vs NYC Bike Rumble.

Hooray Julie!  Another one for your collection, up there with the Bailey's-dispensing Dreidel!  But in order to get your Media Darling Merit Badge, a picture of you looking silly has to appear in major media.  Keep up the good work!

Should I post that picture on his site?

Don't post that. Snob will counter by calling you a Beautiful Godzilla.

Sorry, it's no-win situation :(

Ugh--that's too bad. Of course we are not always out there with full on goggles, etc. I wear my goggles maybe once or twice a year, but am glad I have them when I need them.

I love that winter biking has become so "normal" that people can draw all kinds of lines in the sand (er, snow) about how we should be promoting it. But, last time I looked, many more people are still on bikes in summer than winter, so I think we still have work to do. Each person will find their way in terms of gear, etc.

Ha, ha!  I read that post, but never would have recognized you, Julie.  I love Bike Snob's writing, but always skip over his truly awful commenters.

This is the best bike-blog-world promotion Chicago bike winter could get.  :) Cool.
