The Chainlink

Ok, so it seems the ride this morning sucked for some folks. I couldn't be happier!

Waterproof-windproof-thick as hell gloves- Check
Waterproof Milwaukee Hoodie- Check
Long thick socks and tights- Check
Snow glasses- Check
Fenders- Double check
Awesomeness- Aw hells yeah!- SUPER CHECK

Gear up like crazy for the winter. Put those fenders on your bike and take the lane if you have to just to avoid the snow pile. I had a blast this morning! Probably because I don't work anywhere near downtown anymore. Whoo!

what kind of gloves are they?
Dig! I had a great time this morning too, and I do work downtown. I'll admit that motorists and buses were passing me closer than I would prefer, but it was still great fun. I always imagine that drivers are secretly jealous of me because I get to be outside enjoying the beautiful snow day, while they are stuck pouting about traffic and honking at each other.
What bike and tires do you prefer for bike winter?

I'll admit that I love winter riding -- the salted roads are fine, but that slush is just terrifying! It hides icy chunks and slick pavement.
so why are there no bumps for the rainy, sleety, stuff that fell all yesterday?
I have the lizard skin blizzard gloves. Cheap. They sell them at Rapid. Not the best you can buy, but they seemed to get me through the storm just fine!

I just ride with my gatorskins. Most tires on bikes are going to be susceptible to hidden treasures in the snow. Just keep 'em at max psi and bike-with-care.

To you Danielle, and anyone else who rode bravely today (happily or not), I raise this pint of Stella Artois!

hey wait I drank with you for real tonight, do we have to have an internet toast too?
May sound silly, but I have a pair of those giant clear plastic protection glasses people where in the lab, or when sanding or something. Cover a good chunk of the face and a great lil windshield. It's never too cold to ride if you're dressed right!
