Need a date for the 2010 Sadie Hawkins Day race on November 20th? Post up here....

Copied from the 2008 post :

Need a date for the Sadie Hawkins Day race on November 20th? Post up here.... remember, guys/girls, a girl
should ask you to race. If you need a date (which doesn't imply that
you'll be, in any way, connected to that person except for trying to
keep up with them!), post here. Remember, you can do the race FF, MF,
MMF, MFF, MFFF, MFFFF, MFFFFF, etc....but boys, you need a female with
you.

You must pre-register at the Sadie Hawkins website here.

Sadie is a charity event to benefit the Chicago Women's Health Center so
they can continue to keep women of all ages and lifestyles healthy,
educated and riding their bikes. You'll be doing your part for the
Chicago Ladies.

Start: Blue Frog, 676 N. Lasalle NOON for registration.

After Party: CRUST Organic Eatery, 2056 W. Division

Registration:
Couple: $20
Solo Lady $10
Solo Jerk (we still love you) $10.

(21 and over only.)

To answer some of the questions you've been asking here:

1.) Pre-reg prices are discounted. Prepare to pay about $10 more if you register day of the race. Which is totally ok because its FOR CHARITY! OMG! Feel Good about yourself!

2.) NO Male-Male couples are allowed this year. STRICTLY. You can ride a M-M team, but you'll pay for two single dudes. (Its all about the ladies though, so Girl-Girl teams will get the couples rate.)

3.) If you have any other questions or inquiries, please email us thru the website at chicagosadiehawkins.info.

How vanilla. Life is short, why stop at MFFFFF?
Sorry, only two-somes allowed, TC.

a. In other words you approve the image.
b. Where ever the image came from can not justify it's use. (unless you live in a cartoon world)
c. Disney in NOT a sposer nor would they use it isolated in any promo.
b. Disney does not require any one to use that image.
e. The Sadie Hawking site would work perfectly well with out it.
f. It serves no useful pupose other than to trivialize violence.
g. The only question left is why keep it and draw dishonor on yourselves and onto the real sponsors?

See; It can esily be removed just like i did from this post.

Hi Rik,

Sorry if the image offends you, but you'll have to take it up with Disney. Its a scene from a child's cartoon based on the Lilo and Stitch movie, of Lilo pouncing her best friend Myrtle. We had another concerned citizen ask about this as well and have hugged it out via email. Please bear in mind, us volunteers who are working REALLY REALLY HARD to make this happen need some comic relief now and then.

Rest assured, there is no condoned violence at Sadie Hawkins, boy-girl, girl-girl or otherwise. (That said if a team were to emulate our Lilo gif on the ride, someone might be awfully tempted to dish out MAD style points.)

Any organization that thinks this is "ok" or "just funny" is mentally and morally deficient and should not be supported.

exactly. i'd like to point out one more thing:

the cartoon is bad, sure ... but the justification for it is unfathomably offensive and trite. i don't usually get too bent out of shape about this kind of stuff - but there has to be a line.

seriously, apologize for an egregious misstep in judgment and at least publicly pretend to be amused by cats playing the piano or something. i volunteer a lot and spend plenty of time being inappropriate ... but offensive and lacking judgment is a horrible reflection on what seems to be a worthy cause. i suggest running this by whomever heads up the WHC. i'd be interested to know the reaction.

i can't say i'm even offended. i just don't think a group that lacks this kind of minor league judgment deserves my time and money. it casts doubt on how well they'd be managing my contribution and their organization.

but if the naacp posts an amos 'n' andy cartoon or a gallery of actors in blackface for "comic relief" on their website, i'll shut my mouth and be the best volunteer you've ever had. ditto, weight watchers with a link to peopleofwalmart.com.

context and grace, kids, can be your friends.

ps i think i'm a little in love with not nathan now.
