The Chainlink

Anyone else grateful for the "extra" sun in the morning today? Hope you all have lights for the darker commute home tonight!

This weekend, Holly blogged about learning how to fix a flat at Rapid Transit , which made me think the new BW site should include a list of local resources for hands on bike maintenance learning. Does a directory exist already that we can build from/link to?

Thanks to Holly and everyone who has been adding comments to the blog. So much great content, which gives more ideas for what the new site should include. I have also been referring other new cyclists to the blog for commiseration and inspiration.

Also, on 11/21, Martin is leading a Bike Winter Basics workshop to help you  tend to your overworked steed during the salty, slushy months. I think winter biking is harder on our bikes than us. This is a fantastic way to not only pick up some basic maintenance skills, but also to ask general questions about year round cycling.

For now, I am enjoying a few more days in the 60's,

Best,

Gin

I was out late on Friday night when it felt like it was hovering in the mid to high 30s. It wasn't that bad. For me, it was more about the inertia having to get back on my bike and ride home alone. Once I was riding again (after a fun stop at a dive bar in Old Irving Park) it was fine. I'd wished my ride was longer.

Hey all--in addition to your input on the content of the new site, I'm definitely going to need some guest writers (more on that later) and I have a few other fun ideas up my sleeve. I'm hoping that Bicicle Beginner will become a little more interesting once the season fully hits. (I've got to say, though, you have NO idea how excited I was when I heard them say on the radio "high of 62º" for today!)

Please know that your comments and your suggestions are always welcome. I'm always open to suggestions if there's something you might want me to cover on the blog, too.

Thank you!

Holly
P.S. if anyone's planning to go to West Town on the 21st, let me know, esp. if you want to ride together.
