The Chainlink

Two weeks ago my friends bike was stolen.

He didn't have much cash or transportation so I bought him a cheap bike from craigslist.

Last night someone stole his seat!

This is absolutely insane!

You don't see people stealing parts off of cars... Do we have to completely dismantle our bikes whenever we park? Take the whole thing inside?

I'm feeling really violated even though it's not even MY bike.

Does anyone have a seat and post that would fit on my friends cruiser?

Sorry for your friends bad luck, that is rotten. What kind of bike is it? I have some old parts that may work but don't really know what fits what. You could take a look, but I bet more info would help.
It wasn't a yellow cruiser was it? Saw one with the seat ripped off last night. There are many shit bags out there ;-(
It was indeed! And they had the lever pulled on mine but must have been spooked by someone.

Try Working Bikes for a good enough seat post and an almost good enough seat on Wed or Sat. If you bring the bike you can make sure it'll fit.
If only I could find a way to hook up the frame to a taser!!!!
Shit I'm sorry! I even commented to my wife that "someone is gonna be upset when they come out to their bike tonight." I didn't see anyone hovering over the bikes when we got there. Were enough peeps on the street where they would get spooked easy. it didn't look like they did a pro-theft job on the cruiser. Coulda just been drunks as well ;-(

My saddle was just stolen!!! Soooo pissed. It was a Brooks B17 standard, well-worn to the shape of my ass, but I suppose someone thought someone else might want it. I do feel very violated, and will have to take extra steps to secure the replacement.
2 years on the bike and parked in much sketchier places, and never did anyone mess with it, but I guess it could happen any time...
I'd be willing to use a folding bike.... the problem is cost and availability.

I still like the taser frame that only shocks thieves.

So I'll ask my age old question. Why are not folder bikes more popular. I would assume that bikes get left outside unattended because they can't be brought inside. I would think that commuters of all people would be the biggest proponents of folding bikes on the planet.

Am I misguided in my thinking?
Not a taser, but might be worth the $7:

Oh, if it were only legal...
