I have a fizik aliante saddle and the leather at the end is starting to tear... Do you know of any shops in Chicago that will replace the leather on the saddle instead of having to buy a new saddle? or a place online?

I think the saddle industry is such frad... my saddle MRSP is $300 I've found it on sale for $220... It's gotten out of control I bet they are made in asia for next to nothing...

Unfortunately I don't think its possible to replace the leather on a saddle such as yours...You must have either wiped out on your bike or there is reason why you are experiencing an unusual amount of chafe(i.e. you are sitting too far back on the saddle and your legs are rubbing on the side, or a similar thing.) If you are looking for a quick and temporary fix you should ask around in the bike shops for some OEM saddles. Some of the higher end bikes come with great saddles but the buyers choose to get something else. You can get some great saddles for $20 this way...

I have gotten two very good Bontrager saddles for my road bikes from the local trek store. Were "take-offs" so one was $50 and one was $25. Both VERY light and have been VERY comfortable too!

Keep your eyes open for deals, especially this time of year.

I know of one person who has recovered a saddle- not a fancy one mind you, but most of the covers on saddles these days are just glued or stapled, so it's not rocket science getting a new cover on there if you use good glue. Try the user that goes by "on2wheels". I know he's done this at least once, might be able to offer you some tips if you want to try it. Might be worth a shot at least if the saddle is toast otherwise.
You should re-cover it with Luis Vitton vinyl fabric. That would be rad.
