The Chainlink

My bike was stolen from a bike rack right outside Target at 12:30 this afternoon in Uptown.  Checked out the video from the area and saw the guy who took it.  He was a professional - had the chain lock cut and was gone in less than 2 minutes.  Have filed a police report.  Please shoot me an email if you see it out and about.  Sad day.

Did you report this on the stolen bike registry? Was it a white guy in a hoodie, black guy with a van?
Haven't put it up on the registry yet ... The police report number is at home and I'm not. All the police and security guy could make out from the video was that the thief was male, arrived on foot and had a backpack.
I saw the blue previa of bianchi brava theft in the uptown neighborhood this afternoon. Perhaps a connection?
We can add the serial number and other info to the registry later-- please place a report ASAP.
If someone sees this bike tomorrow morning they will be unable to contact you.

Please remember no-one here has any way to contact you unless you've already friended them.

Also, we get 10 or more reports on heavy days on the registry- we're slipping back into a new chainlink forum thread for every stolen bike-- there must be a better solution. Some folks (e.g. Jami) have been corteous to use the "do this when your bike gets stolen" thread of their own volition as a courtesy to other readers. Other fora, like chifg, have one stolen bike thread that gets added on to. As long as bounce-to-top is the default forum view it doesn't seem much less advantageous than starting a new thread.
Tired-- previous post a bit of a mess, sorry.
