So I was riding down LSD Path today and saw a little boy maybe 8 or 9 riding a miniature Specialized road bike(Kudos to Specialized for designing something like that). Anyways he was being chased by his mother on another roadie and this kid had the brightest smile in his face going about 18 mph...I pulled up next to him and said "You are going pretty fast, you wanna have a race to the end of the straight?" His response was "Go!". So we get on a sprint of course my whole evil scheme from the beginning is to have this kid addicted right? So I look like I sprinting my heart out but in reality hardly putting any effort into it...He crosses the imaginary line with about a wheel lead and I say "Man you are too fast for me..." Should have seen the sparkle in his eye...So I am guilty as charged, I think I turned a kid into an addict...Like they say get'em addicted while they are young...

Aww that's very sweet. good goin'
I love those little roadie bikes, I saw kids on tiny Orbeas and Cervelo's when I was in Iowa!
awwww
I disagree, if my kid enjoying themselves and showing a genuine interest in the sport, I would be more than happy to buy them a decent bike. Then as they grow up I can switch the parts to a different frame every winter. This way the costs are kept to a minimum and they'll know how to work on bikes too...

No way my 8 Yr old is getting an Orbea or Cervelo. Theres not need for my kids to have nicer bikes then I. Plus kids grow so damn fast, do drop that kind of coin is just pointless.. Like parents who get their kids BMW's as a first car out just to crash up, silly.
